Who publishes what

Authors publish their own books on bookmatic. The author is responsible for their book. What is not allowed

• Work you do not hold the rights to.
• Sexual content involving minors, or content that sexualises them. Reported to authorities, account terminated, no appeal.
• Content that is illegal where we operate, or that incites violence against real people.
• Passing yourself off as another author, publisher, or person.
• Targeted harassment, doxxing, or threats.
• Spam, malware, or using a book page as a front for something else.

Review before a page goes public

Publishing requires a verified email address. An author's first book is held for review before its public page opens; once a book of theirs has been approved, later ones publish directly. No book page on bookmatic is indexed by search engines.

Reporting a problem

Use the report form — it is linked from every public book page — or email hello@konsensus.net. Tell us the page address and what is wrong with it. We aim to look at every report within two business days. We may take a page offline while we look at it.

Copyright notices

If a book here copies your work, send a notice to hello@konsensus.net containing:

• the work you own, and where it can be seen;
• the address of the bookmatic page that copies it;
• your name, postal address, and email;
• a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised;
• a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or act for them;
• your signature (typed is fine).

We remove pages on a valid notice and tell the author what was removed and why. An author who believes the removal was wrong can reply with a counter-notice: their name, address, email, the page removed, and a statement that they believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification. We repeatedly infringe nobody: accounts that attract repeat valid notices are terminated.

What we can do

• Hold a page for review before it opens.
• Unlist a page, or remove it.
• Suspend an account — every public page belonging to it goes dark at once.

What we keep

Abuse reports are stored so we can act on them and show a pattern of repeat notices. Anonymous trial manuscripts — books uploaded without an account, in the open demo — are deleted automatically after 30 days, along with their notes and images. Books that belong to an account stay until the author deletes them or asks us to. Bug reports sent from inside the app can include a small capture of the flagged element (which may quote your text); those reports are deleted automatically after 90 days.
